We were lucky with the weather again, it was a warm sunny day for our summer outing. The Royal Mint fascinated us with its history, huge numbers, and present-day scope, and there were Disney moments when large hoppers poured out sparkling waterfalls of silver and gold coins. We liked our guide Alison who poured out facts and enthusiasm like the coins (and who was word perfect despite being new to her job).

St Fagans had a lot to explore. Favorites included: St Teilo's church with restored wall paintings from the 1500s that are unexpectedly bright and in a unique style; the row of terraced cottages showing how domestic life changed from 1810 to 1985, and the prefab from 1948 (a lot of us remember these). This museum is still growing and developing.

So we had an enjoyable 'day off' in the sunshine and many of us said we'd revisit these places, especially the museum as more attractions are added to it.
