Walking on the Begwyns

Hay on WI members have been meeting outdoors whilst we could for a walk and socially distanced catch up. On Thursday 20th August we walked on the Begwyns.. We had a lovely walk with only a few blustery gusts of rain at the start which did result in a view of a rainbow across the hills.  The views were magnificent and we made it to the Roundabout at 415m and sat on the impressive circular seat that was built in June 2000, where we had a short break and a brief update on the history of the Begwyns. The whole area of 1300 acres had been owned for a long period by the Maesllwch Estate before being gifted to the National Trust by Major G. W. F. De Winton on the 7th July 1992.
